The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority announces the opening of the position of Network Maintenance Engineer. Applications will be taken through March 17, 2008 or until position is filled. The most qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview. OETA is the Oklahoma statewide public television network. The network has four full power digital transmitting facilities and 15 low power transmitter sites. OETA is completing digital conversion of all facilities to include HD studios. The OETA 15 low power transmitter’s sites are currently being totally reconstructed and will be new state of the art digital facilities. OETA seeks an engineer who will assist with the construction of these new facilities.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES: The Network Maintenance Engineer is responsible to maintain the assigned OETA low power transmitters across the state. This position will be responsible for maintenance, repair, testing and FCC compliant operation. Knowledge of transmitters, satellite uplink, digital networking is required. Maintenance of assigned sites to include inspection of tower lighting systems and the supervision of tower work, tower lighting as well as the ability to trouble shoot to the component level of all analog and digital electronic equipment. Also assists in the FAA requirements of logging and reporting of system outages. Equipment maintenance work shall be performed following safety procedures and methods.
Provide network system wide technical support assistance in troubleshooting, maintenance, testing and installation of equipment. Complies data and prepares site files and written reports. In performing maintenance and repair of equipment and testing, the ability to troubleshoot equipment following the proper logical steps is required. The ability to comprehend technical manuals, circuit descriptions, mechanical and electronic schematics is required.
Field maintenance requires considerable in state traveling to and from work sties. An OETA vehicle is provided for the maintenance engineer to utilize in statewide travel. Travel and work should be performed with safety as a priority. Prepare and file travel reports. Engineer must effectively accomplish priorities with limited supervision.
Responsible for the procurement of equipment, parts and supplies to include the researching of parts, vendors and services required. Prepare and submit purchase orders for approval. Both verbal and written reports on the status of assignments and projects should be provided to supervisor on an ongoing basis.
Work under the limited supervision of the Director of Engineering, and assist in planning, design and construction of the network transmission system. Provide technical expertise with the network recommendations to meet or exceed performance criteria as established by the FCC, FAA, SMPTE, SBE, State of Oklahoma and OETA policy. Work with the public, cable television companies, other departments and agencies to provide information and general assistance. Develop a clear understanding of customer needs and goals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/BACKGROUND
Minimum of two years experience in the maintenance and repair of broadcast equipment. SBE Certification or equivalent education and experience preferred. Must be able to kneel, lift and carry equipment weighing a maximum of 50 lbs. Must be able to climb ladders as required in performing required job task. Must have the ability to travel alone and be vehicle insurable.

POSITION: PROGRAM PRODUCER – DOCUMENTARY UNIT

The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority announces the opening of the position titled PROGRAM PRODUCER. The most qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview. These candidates must complete an OETA employment application and provide a resume with professional references. Salary: Commensurate with experience.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
This position is responsible for creating and producing the elements of an upcoming series of programs associated with “Creativity” in the state of Oklahoma. These duties will include editing the programs utilizing contemporary graphic arts and HD non-linear editors, and quite likely will also require skills as a video photographer. The program will be produced in association with other members of the OETA Documentary Department. The program producer will work with others to conceptualize research, develop contacts, plan, write, shoot, edit and creatively produce content for the program. The program producer may also work with non-OETA content providers to coordinate appropriate use of outside productions related to the Creativity Project. Occasional travel, sometimes overnight, but primarily in-state is required for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, journalism or related field and at least two years experience producing long-form programs. The successful candidate will have the vision to enthusiastically understand Oklahoma’s “Creativity Project” concept and recognize the potential of non-typical “creativity” subject matter. This individual will have the proven ability to select appropriate visual topics, logistically plan a shooting/editing schedule, and produce program elements that showcase various concepts and examples of successful applications of creativity. This position requires an individual with strong technical skills in the areas of photography and editing, and the potential to develop and evolve an award-winning television program. Applicants must possess an ability to work efficiently, cooperatively and diplomatically with others under deadline pressure, while maintaining high standards and quality control. Audition video examples (DVD preferred) are required.
Familiarity with Oklahoma politics, law, issues, economy, industry, geography, traditions, lifestyles, and interests is necessary. Candidates are expected to provide anecdotal evidence of this in the interview process. This position also involves occasional responsibilities in other OETA departments as assigned by management.
