Can you donate some of your time to OETA?
OETA is seeking volunteers to assist the Director of Educational Outreach with clerical duties related to the Oklahoma World War II Story Collection Project, a companion initiative to The War: A Film by Ken Burns. This statewide project seeks to gather, share and permanently archive Oklahoma’s World War II stories. All stories will be highlighted on The War web site and some stories will be broadcast on OETA.
After proper training, the volunteer duties will include:
1. Heavy phone work, explaining how people can participate in the project. Because some of these people will be older, volunteers must be patient and kind, in addition to articulate and efficient.
2. Logging stories that have been received.
3. Filing stories.
Skills needed include:
Great telephone skills.
Typing skills.
Ability to use Word and Excel.
A great plus (but not absolutely necessary) would be if volunteers were comfortable using the internet.
Details:
Volunteers will be scheduled to work shifts between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday in 4, or 8, hour time slots at OETA’s Oklahoma City headquarters at 7403 North Kelley Avenue.
Volunteers will not be paid for their services, but they will receive some fun incentives and be part of a project that will leave a legacy for Oklahoma.
If you are interested or have questions, please call OETA’s Lori Holliday at (405) 841-9257 or email her at war@oeta.tv
