Scenes from Documentary:

East Meets West
Her work is a merging of east and west. Michi Susan is an 83 year old Japanese American artist of international merit formally trained at Japan’s Women’s University and Hosei University. She moved to Oklahoma 30 years ago with her husband, Charles. Her work is so sought after that art galleries from across the United States not only solicit her paintings and multimedia sculptures, but will come pick them up for her so she doesn’t have to travel. Susan’s love of Oklahoma is expressed with bright colors in primitive paintings of landscapes and wildflowers, all inspired by Oklahoma’s heralded sunsets. Her Japanese heritage is a favorite subject matter with Oklahoma color used in tea ceremony, kabuki and kimono paintings.
