Closed off from the world, living under Communist rule, the Artists of Cuba struggle to share their work with other nations. Thanks to the added struggle of a private collector and patron, that dedication is paying off and Oklahoma is reaping the rewards. A national exhibition called “Arte de Cuba” made a stop at the Goddard Center in Ardmore this summer, opening a door to a world we rarely see. Gallery tours this special exhibit and we hear from the artists themselves as they tell us why they want everyone to know about their home, their lives and the beauty they find even in the most meager of conditions.
