The Gallery crew is excited to bring the Oklahoma Sugar Art Show and Grand National Wedding Cake competition to OETA.

 

SWEET REWARDS

 

Their art is crisp and layered, demanding and colorful, sweet and….delicious. 

 

We’re talking about Sugar Artists.    They come from all over the world to Tulsa,
Oklahoma each year for the Grand National Wedding Cake Competition.
Never has the perfect creation of an edible flower been so crucial, the placement
of a sugar ribbon so nerve wracking or the stacking of carefully cultivated layers so vital.
And if that isn’t enough pressure, how about the prospect of transporting these oh
so sweet creations cross country, some across oceans, to compete with world masters?   

Those are the demands for the nearly 100 Master Cake Designers who compete
each year at the Tulsa State Fair.   Recent winners include Lori Cossou of Welch who
will fight to keep her title.   OETA’s Award Winning Documentary series, Gallery follows
Lori Cossou and a former Oklahoma champion,Kim Payne of Cheyenne along with other
sugar artists from all over the world to see how they fare this year and find out how
Tulsa became the Mecca for Cake!
