Last week's deadly tornado in Woodward underscores the importance of early detection and warning, to minimize injuries or deaths. The storms killed six people, but advance warnings issued more than 24 hours earlier are credited with preventing further loss of life. Those warnings are the result of efforts by teams of meteorologists, aided by the latest cutting edge technology, located inside a multimillion dollar facility along Highway 9 in Norman.
